A progressive web app is a web application that a phone or a computer treats like an installed app. It gets an icon on the home screen, opens full screen without browser bars, stores data for offline use and can send push notifications. It runs on iOS, Android, Windows and macOS from one codebase, and an update reaches every user the moment you release it.

What a PWA gives your business

• One codebase instead of three. The same application is the website, the Android app and the iPhone app. You pay for one build and one round of updates, not for parallel native teams.
• No app store between you and the user. People install the app from a link or a QR code. There is no review queue, no store commission on payments and no waiting for an update to be approved.
• Works without a connection. A service worker stores the screens and data the user needs, so a technician in a basement or a driver between cell towers keeps working and syncs later.
• Faster to ship and to change. A new feature is live for every user on release day. There are no old app versions to support.
• Found by Google. A PWA is still a website, so its public pages are indexed and bring in visitors, which a native app cannot do.

When a PWA is the right choice, and when it is not

A PWA fits when the app is mostly screens, forms, lists and data: customer self-service portals, B2B ordering, bookings and scheduling, loyalty programmes, field reports, inspection checklists, dashboards and internal tools. It also fits when you need to reach users quickly without sending them to an app store first.

A native app is the better choice when you need deep hardware access such as Bluetooth devices, background location tracking, heavy 3D graphics or platform features that Apple limits for web apps. If you want a store listing for marketing reasons, the same PWA can be wrapped and published in Google Play and the App Store. How we build progressive web apps

The backend is usually Laravel or Node.js, the frontend Vue.js, Svelte or React, with Tailwind CSS for the interface. The PWA layer is a web app manifest, a service worker with a caching strategy chosen per screen, an offline fallback page, background sync where the process needs it, and Web Push notifications on Android and on iOS 16.4 or newer.

Every build passes Lighthouse PWA checks and manual install tests on real iPhones and Android phones, because install prompts and offline behaviour differ between Safari and Chrome. We connect the app to the systems you already run: ERP and accounting, CRM, payment providers, banks and identity services such as SSO.

The code belongs to you. It lives in your repository, runs on your infrastructure or on EU cloud hosting we set up, and every release comes with documentation.

Example: a self-service PWA for a waste management group

For CleanR, one of the largest waste management groups in Latvia, we built the Manai videi self-service app as a progressive web app. Customers install it from the browser and use it to check collection schedules, manage contracts, order extra services and pay invoices. The stack is Laravel, Vue.js and Tailwind CSS, with a web app manifest and a service worker that keeps the app usable offline. One codebase serves iPhone, Android and desktop users, and the same app is also listed in the App Store for customers who look for it there.

Turning an existing web app into a PWA

If you already have a web application, we add the PWA layer to it: we audit the frontend, add the manifest and service worker, design the offline behaviour, set up push notifications and fix the performance problems that block installation. For older applications we can plan a step-by-step rebuild that keeps the business running during the change.
