Edgars ViļumsChief Technology Officer (CTO)
Edgars leads iConcept’s technological direction — from software architecture and technology choices to development quality and the technical growth of the team. His journey from professional musician to Full-Stack Developer, INDEXO project tech lead and iConcept CTO shows one thing clearly: when Edgars starts something, he goes all the way.
Edgars is iConcept’s Chief Technology Officer — the person responsible for the company’s technological direction, software architecture and making sure that complex technical decisions turn into stable, understandable and high-quality solutions. His path into IT did not start with the classic “I always knew I would become a developer” story. Although he had been interested in computers and programming since childhood, the first serious part of his professional life was connected to music. At one point, he realised that building a stable long-term career through music would be difficult, so he started diving deeper into programming languages, technologies and software development processes. Within a few years, that path took him from being a professional musician to becoming a Full-Stack Developer. And that says a lot about Edgars — when he starts something, he does not just “try it a little”; he goes deep until he understands how it works from the inside. Edgars found iConcept at a point in life when he wanted to get more seriously involved in software development projects. He applied for an open position, met the team and very quickly felt that he belonged. He first joined iConcept as a Full-Stack Developer, but his technical thinking, sense of responsibility and ability to handle complex projects soon moved him to the next level. One of the biggest challenges was the INDEXO project, where Edgars became the tech lead. It was a period of high responsibility, pressure and intense pace, where “almost 24/7” was not just a nice exaggeration. The project required a lot, but moments like this show best who can not only write code, but also lead the technical direction, make decisions and keep the team moving until launch. Since May 2025, Edgars has been iConcept’s Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he connects development, architecture, quality standards and the technical growth of the team. He helps choose the right technologies, introduce better practices and make sure systems are built not only to work today, but also to grow tomorrow. Outside work, Edgars consciously looks for ways to switch off from technical challenges and recharge. Sometimes it is gardening and working with his hands, sometimes a longer bicycle ride or a climbing gym, where the whole focus is on the next move. Music has also not disappeared from his life — Edgars continues to experiment with sound, creating mixes and tracks, including with the help of AI tools.
