On 25 August 2026, iConcept was added to the official Statamic Partner directory. Jack McDade, who leads Statamic, reviewed and approved the application. We are currently the only agency from Latvia in the directory. Our profile is listed on statamic.com.

What is Statamic?

Statamic is a content management system built on Laravel, a PHP framework. The main difference from WordPress and similar systems is where content lives. Statamic keeps it in files, not in a database. This design is called flat-file architecture.

In practice this means less to maintain, because there is no database server at all. Content history can live in Git next to the code, so every change can be traced and rolled back. Pages load fast because the server reads files instead of waiting for database queries. Editors work in a control panel and never see the file structure.

Statamic is a commercial product. A company stands behind it, develops the platform and ships security updates.

For developers Statamic gives full Laravel access, so custom features live in the same project. Content can also be served through an API when the front end is built separately. Our own favourite part is content in Git. Every edit is visible the same way a code change is.

Why we build on Statamic

iConcept is a web development company in Riga, Latvia. We have been building web systems since 2007, and the current company has operated since 2011. Laravel is the framework we use daily for custom development, so Statamic is a natural fit. It is the same Laravel base with a ready content layer that editors can use without a developer.

These are the Statamic sites we build and maintain:

  • diena.lv, the news portal of Diena, a national daily newspaper in Latvia;
  • db.lv, the business news portal Dienas Bizness;
  • ekiosks.lv, a platform for reading digital press editions;
  • bte.lv, the website of Biroja Tehnikas Eksperts, an office equipment company;
  • estater.lv, the website of the real estate agency Estater.

The newsrooms of diena.lv and db.lv publish content every day, and all of it goes through the Statamic control panel. That kind of load quickly shows whether a platform is ready for serious work.

Statamic suits content sites: news portals, company websites, campaign pages. When a project needs custom features, we build them on the Laravel side in the same codebase instead of stacking plugins.

How agencies get listed

The partner directory is not automatic. An agency applies with its Statamic projects, and the Statamic team reviews the application. Ours was approved by Jack McDade. Each partner profile in the directory is public, so anyone can look it up.

Where Statamic fits and where it does not

Statamic is not the answer to everything. An online store with thousands of products or a system with heavy relational data is usually better served by a database-backed platform. For content sites the flat-file model removes a whole layer of maintenance work: database backups, environment migrations and plugin security patching.

What the partnership means for clients

The partnership has three practical effects.

  • A direct line to the Statamic team. We can raise platform questions with the people who build it.
  • A listing anyone can verify. The directory on statamic.com is official, and any client can check our profile there.
  • The partner community. We exchange experience with other agencies that work with Statamic daily.

The status does not change how we work. It confirms work we already do.
