"Hello, I'd like to know how much a standard website costs, plus or minus?"
We often encounter this rather complex question. Website development shouldn't be thought of as a product, but rather as a set of services that ultimately result in the client receiving a website.
We've been working in website development for over 8 years, but we still can't give a precise answer to this question without conducting a thorough pre-development analysis. After analyzing the initial website design, we can provide a precise website development estimate.
WHY DO WEBSITE PRICES VARY SO MUCH?
Clients often contact us because they're perplexed by the wide range of website development costs, which can range from a few hundred euros to tens of thousands of euros for a website with identical specifications.
Students looking to earn extra money (who didn't want that during their student years?) typically offer the cheapest options. The costs are very low, which is why many people fall for them. However, it's important to remember that in these cases, the website is being developed by a single person—that is, a designer, a front-end programmer, and a back-end programmer all rolled into one. While the website developer may excel at one stage of development, it's virtually impossible for one person to maintain quality throughout all stages of website development. Furthermore, it's important to consider that this person could change careers at any time, take a higher-paying job, and further support for your website's development may be unavailable. In the worst-case scenario, the website will remain unfinished.
Another common option is template-based websites. This means taking a ready-made website template that's been used hundreds of times, inserting the information you provide, and voila. This option is often used by Latvian website developers to offer clients the cheapest option. Prices here also range from a few hundred euros for relatively simple websites. It's important to consider the fact that dozens of similar websites could appear at any time, perhaps even among competitors.
In our approach, websites are created from scratch. Client requirements are carefully studied first, website specifications are created, and only then does the development process begin. This process involves several people (project manager, designer, client-side programmer, server-side programmer, and, if needed, a text entry specialist). Additionally, we regularly communicate with the client—explaining the work process, demonstrating design options, discussing nuances, etc. Of course, this approach costs more, as we hire professional specialists in their field, and the costs are no longer a few hundred euros. But in return, you receive a high-quality website developed using modern technology and future support, which is also important.
WHY NOT CHOOSE THE CHEAPEST OPTION?
The laws of economics prevent you from getting more value for less. If you choose the cheapest offer, you assume the risk of additional costs. If you can do this, then you have enough money to pay for something better.
A very apt quote from John Ruskin (1819-1900), which applies 100% in our industry.
A website is your online presence, so potential customers judge your business by it, and these days, users increasingly look at a company's online presence before purchasing a product or service.
Is it worth saving on this? You decide.
